TRANSITIONS

From the sperm to the egg that is ovulated

From the fetus to the child that is created.

And so, moving from the complex to the sublime

The stages of our contentment change with time.

The most serene, peaceful, and warmest time that is best

Is as a suckling of human kindness at our mother's breast.

And once that warm milk of human kindness is differently sourced

And some of its humanity and kindness are separated and divorced,

We go forward while under the aegis of false values and of so-called intelligence

Morphing through life stages undone by our own greed and misused innocence,

Ending, at much less than at what we began,

Lost shadows of a hope that once was Man.
