THE DIVIDES

There's a great divide in our land

Between now and then

Between us and them

Between distance and close at hand.

Between I can't

And I shan't.

Between what I got

And what I have not.

Between the young and the old

And the hot and the cold

Between the learned-smart or like-dumb

And of whom we are or may yet become.

Between the poor and the rich

The good and the son-of-a bitch.

Between my enemy and a friend.

And of feelings that never end.

Although all show differently in their living and being.

Each individually is of itself worthwhile experiencing.
