THE EARTH, THE SUN, AND MOON

Peering over the dark horizon

Is a rotund, red, and rising sun.

Synchronizing with the yellow moon’s demise

As it fades into the cloud-filled and grey skies.

Slowly sinking and exiting from the splendour of an emerging dawn

A departing force manipulating the rise and fall of tides not yet done,

As the sun crosses the blue heavens, with light and heat waning steadily until dusk arrives

And night descends in a cover of darkness lit only by the moon, Man’s lantern of the skies.

The ups and downs of these two unstrung yo-yos are played on a daily basis by Mother Nature,

Not as some global trickster but as the overseer of earth days and as their environmental insurer.
