CANOES AND GUNBOATS

The main activity of a person’s life is to live it

With hope, the strength of which is to give it.

Meaningful relationships which are reasons enough to continue it,

Even against unbearable odds that provide bogus reasons to end it.

The ebb and flow of life is as a ride in wild river rapids, intermittently stilled by peaceful calm

And many of us are afloat to test the waters, enjoy nature’s beauty, and to live without harm.

Yet, others are afloat in gunboats in like waters to do evil and weaponize all of life’s knocks.

We are terrified shooting the rapids in canoes hoping the gunboats will sink as they hit the rocks.

So, if in these unfortunate and hard times, you are unhappy with life and seek to end it,

Look first to our world history and learn what Mankind has lived through and done,

Especially in times of plagues, wars, and many other disasters designed to kill the spirit,

That will cause you to opt for life, and fill it with hope, to meet any disasters yet to come.
